What should I wear for a boudoir shoot?

One of the most common questions I get asked by my clients is what they should wear to a boudoir shoot – which isn’t too surprising as for many of us a boudoir shoot goes beyond the realms of our day to day lingerie drawer! If you’ve got a shoot coming up, sit back, relax and have a read of my top tips below for inspiration and help planning your outfit – and don’t forget, when you book you can will get your free copy of my more detailed lingerie guide.

A great outfit has to have great foundations, so go for a bra fitting and make sure you’re currently wearing the right size – your boobs will thank you for it! My go to high street bra fitter is Marks and Spencer, who have always done a pretty awesome job for me in the past. Equally, if you’re more of a bralette, or no bra at all, person – you do you!

Whilst it might be tempting to go for skimpy knickers or a thong, be aware that some styles can dig into your hips which can be uncomfortable and unflattering. Bigger knickers can be just as sexy in the right fabrics and will help shape you without being restrictive; there is a lot to be said for high waisted pants and French knickers!

Stockings are far more flattering on the thighs than hold-ups. Be sure to bring a couple of pairs in case you get any ladders or snags in them. You’ll also need a suspender belt to hold your stockings up. However, stockings are not an absolute requirement for a boudoir shoot. Whatever you choose, be comfortable.

Accessorise! Perhaps you’ve a piece of jewellery that means a lot to you; something that’s been bought for you by your beau or inherited from a family member. From sparkly earrings to a string of pearls, bring your collection along and we’ll make you feel sparkly too.

The higher the heels, the better! Shoes finish off an outfit and heels will help give you better posture and a fab leg shape. Right now, position your feet if you were wearing high heels – I bet your back straightens up and you lift your head! Don’t worry too much if you can’t strut down a catwalk in them; just make sure they match your outfit, that the soles are clean and any labels on the bottom are removed.

Finally, remember that no one can see the size label in your lingerie, or your clothes – size up for comfort instead of sizing down. Wearing something SLIGHTLY looser is 100% better than something slightly too tight. After all, style and comfort have no size limit and absolutely won’t compromise on your sexiness!
